After returning · Scenario 07
Technical approval is in—so why is procurement still stalled?
Technical approval does not equal budget approval. The EB approves the spend, not the features. Boss Agent helps you translate technical value into a business case the EB can approve: how to calculate ROI, how the procurement process works, how to write the approval rationale—turning each item into written evidence rather than leaving it at "they all said it was good."
The technical team confidently said, "Let's go with this vendor," and you thought it was a done deal. But the procurement process dragged on for two months, and finance asked, "Where's the ROI? Why should we approve this budget?" You searched through chat logs and couldn't find a single decent business case.
Sales: "We confirmed the results with your technical team, and this time we'll help you work out the business case as well: investment, savings, ROI, and whatever materials the procurement process needs — we'll prepare them against the checklist."
The system organizes by Business Case stage evidence: joint business value report, Champion rehearsal, reporting to the EB, negotiation plan. Value must be quantified into numbers the customer accepts, not your adjectives.
Business Case A business case that lets the EB approve this budget
Paper Process The processes and time required for procurement, contracts, legal and finance
Investment, savings, ROI — using numbers the customer accepts
What materials procurement, legal and finance each need, and how long it takes
Run through it with the Champion first, then formally report to the EB
Technical approval turns into approvable budget, and the process no longer stalls
ROI, process and reporting records serve as evidence of progress
Managers know which materials each deal still needs before signing
How do you calculate ROI without exaggerating?
Use the criteria the customer themselves recognizes: labor saved, churn reduced, cycles accelerated—have the customer confirm each item, rather than reporting numbers unilaterally.
Will this turn into writing proposals for clients?
The system provides the structure and checklists; you provide the numbers and judgment. If a deal is stuck because the value is unclear, send me the details.
Where is your team stuck?
For deals where technical approval is in but procurement has gone quiet, send them to me and let's see how to shore up the business case.
